Known as “the Grateful Dead of punk” due to their meandering jams, Flipper nonetheless has been loved by punk rockers since their inception. One of the first punk bands to slow it way down, Flipper was a major influence on Seattle’s nascent grunge scene, inspiring the Melvins, Mudhoney, and Nirvana. They were joined by Nirvana’s Novoselic in ‘08. Novoselic departed a year later – replaced by Frightwig’s Rachel Thoele.
