Temple of the Dog
Active: 1990-1992, 2016
Line-up pictured: Chris Cornell, Jeff Ament, Matt Cameron, Stone Gossard, Mike McCready
Temple of the Dog began as Cornell’s tribute to Andy Wood, the Malfunkshun/Mother Love Bone frontman, lost to our world in '90. Cornell had written songs in memory of Wood, enlisted Gossard, Ament, McCready, and Cameron, and Temple of the Dog was born—named for Wood lyric from a Love Bone song. “Hunger Strike” became the breakout Temple of the Dog single and was also Vedder’s first recorded vocal, before he recorded with Pearl Jam. They finished the album in 15 days. It quickly went platinum.
