Queensrÿche’s origin story began in the late 1970s when Wilton, DeGarmo, Jackson, and Rockenfield formed the band Cross+Fire. Geoff Tate stepped in as vocalist for a few gigs while performing regularly with his main band, Myth. They changed their name to The Mob after the Black Sabbath song “Mob Rules.” Tate stayed with The Mob to contribute his operatic vocals to a demo tape. The demo landed The Mob line-up the proverbial big record deal, the name was changed to Queensrÿche, and the rest as they say, is history. Wicked slasher, hot fox, and nice guy Chris DeGarmo left Queensrÿche in 1998.
